Boss: The Untold Tony Danza Story Receives Encore Producer’s Award at Hollywood Fringe Festival
The comedy loosely based on the early life and career of Tony Danza earns an encore performance
Los Angeles, CA (July 2014): Following rave fan reviews and sold out shows during the Hollywood Fringe Festival last month, Boss: The Untold Tony Danza Story receives the festival’s coveted Encore Producer’s Award. Written and performed by actors Damien Luvara and Jennifer Monce, and directed by Michelle Thorn, Boss’ encore performance is set for Sunday July 13th at 8:30 p.m. at the Complex Theaters in Hollywood.
Formerly known as the “Best Of” awards, The Encore Producer Awards represent the best of the Hollywood Fringe as selected by venue producers based on artistic merit and commercial potential. Winners receive valuable awards and extensions giving them the opportunity for additional audience and press. Past winners have gone on to further extensions in Los Angeles, around the country and the world.

“Being recognized by the Los Angeles theater community for the hard work and talent of myself, the cast, director and everyone who made this piece go from a dream to a reality is surreal” said actor Damien Luvara. “We are humbled and grateful for the opportunity to share our work with an audience and will always do our best for everyone who comes to see our show.”
Tony, played by Damien Luvara, having been a huge star on Taxi suddenly finds himself out of a job and looking for work in this off-the-cuff comedy about Danza’s early career life. After finding fame on the small screen as Tony Banta, the sweet-natured and somewhat dimwitted cab driver, on Taxi, Tony finds himself out of a job and looking for work. A strange man makes him an offer he can’t refuse, but how much is Tony willing to sacrifice in order to regain his fame?
The cast shines in this fictional comedic biography, which explores the nature of the entertainment industry and how far some people will go to achieve success in it. Starring Damien Luvara, Jennifer Monce, Meghan Parks, Christopher Schram, Jordan Rennick, Christopher Mowod, Hannah Kanengieter, and Gabriel Rissa.
Damien Luvara is an LA based actor, writer and producer. He’s starred staged productions of A Normal Heart, Savage In Limbo, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Woyzeck among others. Luvara’s writing credits include the web series Guy Friends starring Kelli Giddish as well as multiple performance-based pieces in collaboration with Seattle art collective SuttonBereSculler. Additionally, Luvara has appeared in films such as Holes and Dia De Los Muertos starring Danny Trejo.
