LOS ANGELES (June 6th, 2014) – Stage and Television talent Rachae Thomas stars in her world premiere, one woman show, Pieces of Carra, a musical journey about embracing the inevitable question; The more you resist your parents, do you ultimately become them? Directed by Carly Pandza alongside Rachae Thomas who both conceived and created the piece and produced by Mike Abramson, this touching musical premieres at the Hollywood Fringe Festival for three performances only

They say one can never go home. But if one chooses what will they find? Pieces of Carra explores a daughters love for her mother through moments of music and memories. With a perfect blend of joy and sorrow, the promised warmth of Pieces of Carra will make you feel like you’re right at home. The journey comes full circle from love to anger to sadness to acceptance and brings the audience back home again as Rachae, through song chronicles her real life relationship with her mother. Pieces of Carra is a musical, transformative, visceral piece of theater that plays homage to mothers everywhere.

Co-creator and star, Rachae Thomas is no stranger to Los Angeles theatre having appeared in such critically acclaimed hits as Ragtime at The Hudson Backstage Theatre and Neighbors at The Matrix Theatre. She was also a finalist for LA’s Next Stage Star Competition created by Michael Sterling and Associates. Rachae appeared in numerous films including Laps and most recently Life of A King where she stars as Eugene Brown’s daughter played by Cuba Gooding Jr. Rachae’s relationship with her mother was her main inspiration to conceive Pieces of Carra. “I had a need for expansion as a performer and a love for my mom, that, I wanted to express and inspire in her.” Carly Pandza helms the piece as Director and Co-Creator alongside Rachae. “The journey of directing and co-creating this piece has been magical. It has embodied the essence of what it truly means to be an artist.” Carly’s directing credits include My Holocaust Memory at the Ensemble Studio Theatre written by Stephen Dierkes and she was the Assistant Director for The Ugly One also at Ensemble Studio Theatre alongside Artistic Director Gates McFadden.

Musical Direction is by Jeff Bonhiver, Lighting Design is by Val Salas, and the Production Stage Manager is Marissa Drammissi. Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle and LA Weekly Theater Award winner Mike Abramson produces. Pieces of Carra runs for three performances only commencing on June 19th. Performances are Thursday June 19th at 7 PM, Friday June 20th at 7 PM, and Sunday June 22st at 2 PM at the Stephanie Feury Studio Theatre 5636 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90038 (between North Gower and North Larchmont). General Admission is $20. Two pay what you can preview performances will take place on Tuesday June 17th at 7 PM and Wed June 18th at 7 PM at The Ensemble Studio Theatre @ Atwater Village Theatre 3269 Casitas Avenue in Atwater Village, Los Angeles, CA 90039.
