Los Angeles May 29, 2014-DSKG! Presents the World Premiere of The Rev at The Church of E.L.I.V.I.S.$.(Everlasting Love Victorious In Spite of $in) where we minister to celebrities, because just like you, celebrities need Jesus too!

Los Angeles, CA – Award-winning actor and writer Markhum Stansbury, Jr. is teaming up with Harvard grad and fellow Upright Citizens Brigade alum, Katie Locke O’Brien to bring his one-man sketch comedy, The Rev at The Church of E.L.I.V.I.S.$., to Theatre Asylum as part of the 2014 Hollywood Fringe Festival. It will run Saturday, June 7 at 4PM, Monday June 16 at 7PM, Saturday June 21 at 8:30PM and Sunday June 29 at 6PM.

The Rev (Reginald Edward Valiant) is the minister at the Church of E.L.V.I.S.$. (Everlasting Love Victorious In [Spite of] $in) where he ministers to celebrities because “Just like you, celebrities need JE-SUS too!” The Rev at The Church of E.L.I.V.I.S.$., features “sermons” suggesting advice to celebrities ranging from Jay-Z to Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus to Donald Sterling and everybody in-between. While the advice of The Rev is unconventional to say the least, his words will leave you filled spiritually and are guaranteed to have you literally laughing for days! Come join the congregation and let the church say AMEN!

The Hollywood Fringe Festival is an annual, open-access, community-derived event celebrating freedom of expression in the performing arts community. It would be a major understatement to say that Stansbury freely expresses himself. Under the deft direction of O’Brien you get to see what happens when a stereotypical slick minister intersects with celebrity and all it is…or isn’t.

CREATIVE TEAM
MARKHUM STANSBURY, JR. (Writer & Star) is a Georgetown graduate, award winning actor, Disney Screenwriting Fellow and UCB alum. The Rev at The Church of E.L.I.V.I.S.$. is his first foray into writing for the stage but it surely won’t be his last based on the response he has gotten in previews.

KATIE LOCKE O’BRIEN (Director) is a Harvard graduate and UCB alum who is currently developing The Hub, a Boston Based Comedy series for IFC as a writer/producer. Additionally she co-wrote and produced The Truth Behind the Real True Story:Donnie Miller and has a feature-length companion piece, Sounds Like Orange, in development.
