Marilyn “wakes up” in the 21st century thinking that she has overslept and missed her call for “Something’s Got to Give”. She finds that no one knows who she is and she cannot even get a job as an extra.
Being an actress of a “certain age” can be challenging, and one day, while feeling especially frustrated, Sandy said to herself, “I’ll bet that if Marilyn Monroe were alive today, even she would have difficulty getting a job!” That gave rise to this short play.
Sandy Mansson is a native of Los Angeles. After graduation from U.C.L.A., she performed in musicals such as Little Mary Sunshine, A Family affair, Gypsy, and The Music Man, earning her Equity Card.
She was cast in Michael McClure’s The Beard, to replace an actress who kept getting arrested for doing the play. The Civil Liberties Union became involved and 3 judges came to watch Sandy play the part of “Harlow” and ruled that the play could be done without further interference.
She went to live in Sweden, and while there, appeared in Jerry Lewis’ unreleased film, “The Day the Clown Cried”. She also appeared in La Prison des Femmes and toured Europe with The American Drama Group. Sandy worked with Lasse Hallström twice.
Sandy is now back in L.A. , where she played Vera in a recent production of Stepping Out at The Lonny Chapman Theatre and has also appeared in a web series, “Moonbound 24”.
This is her first time at the Hollywood Fringe Festival and she is looking forward to it.
