WET THE HIPPO RECEIVES BEST OF HOLLYWOOD FRINGE EXTENSION.

July 1, 2013, Los Angeles, CA — Wet The Hippo, nominated for Best Comedy in the 2013 Hollywood Fringe Festival, will extend their sell out run through the month of July.

“This show should simply not be missed …transcendent …absolutely hilarious …beautiful …the whole thing feels like a jazz symphony made up on the spot by Duke, Miles, Coltrane and Fitzgerald. Yes, the members of Wet The Hippo are that good.”
Colin Mitchell, Bitter Lemons

Audience members also wrote passionately about their experience at the show:

“WET THE HIPPO is why fringe exists. It makes you feel things you only feel when you’re desperately in love or finally heartbroken. Fearless. Vulnerable. Sensual. Watch this show and remember what living is. And then leave and go do it.”

“Best thing I’ve seen in the theatre since I can remember.”

“This troupe of actors truly brings improv/sketch to the next level.”

In addition to their Best Comedy nomination Wet The Hippo received the Best Stunt Award for their round-the-clock, 32-hour, out-loud reading of Moby Dick on the Santa Monica Boulevard sidewalk.

WET THE HIPPO is the performance company born out of The Idiot Workshop, a Los Angeles acting and improv school established in 2012 by former Cirque du Soleil lead clown, John Gilkey. The class is for actors and improvisors who wish to be pushed to develop a broader comic range. The class focuses on honesty, deep play and absurdity through creative performance technique. Gilkey’s hope is to to build a community of highly creative and boldly comedic performers by providing provocative classes and performance opportunities that support fresh, innovative and visceral comedy.

Wet the Hippo will run Fridays and Saturdays July 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27 at 9PM. All performances will take place at The Complex, 6476 Santa Monica Blvd. Tickets are $10. For Wet The Hippo tickets visit http://www.hollywoodfringe.org/projects/1283 or www.WETtheHIPPO.com.
