LAST CHRISTMAS

Evan McNamara brilliantly plays multiple characters in this tour de force about loss, regret, and redemption. For a character who starts off as a self described "C*&^T", I was surprised to care so much about his plight that by the middle of the piece, I was crying with sorrow, and by the end, with tears of joy. (That is no exaggeration.) Great acting and directing.... full review

The Universe (101)

I LOVED THIS SHOW! The two creators and performers had the audience from the first second to the last. This was a wickedly funny, interactive, and entertaining piece of theatre. ... full review

Late with Lance!

THIS is the perfect fringe show. Our host, Lance, aka "The Artist Formerly Known As Lance Jonathan", is a one-man musical force for comic goodness. Armed with a dream, fifteen years experience in cruise ship entertainment, and the energy of a force five hurricane, Lance was determined to give us the BEST late night chat show ever seen... and when Lance announced that he was going to interview Hugh Jackman, Liza Minelli, and the Miami Sound Machine, we KNEW we were in for smooth sailing. Hi, How Can I Help You?

I saw a previous production in Edinburgh and I cannot recommend it highly enough. If an amazing performance of well written characters in a sexy setting isn't enough, Ms. Durwood's live musical elements make this a must see. I can't wait to see it again and bring others! As a fellow perfomer, I KNOW it's great show because I wish I had come up with it all myself!... full review

Valentino: a play in verse

First of all, what amazing writing. Kudos to David Wisehart for his clever and complex script and to Rachel Stoll for recognizing a great new work when it came her way. It is one thing to write a play, quite another to write a semi-historical play and quite a larger task to write one in verse! I attended the closing night performance and what a great way to finish off my Hollywood Fringe. While not all of the performers were comfortable with the verse, each was obviously earnest about gettin... full review

British Invasion

Nik Coppin's "Half Black" is a non-stop fast-talking comedy routine that has you alternating between laughing and wondering, "How does this guy KNOW so much about spiders and sharks?!" In some ways, it was like flipping back and forth between Comedy Central and Animal Planet, and in a good way! As the title suggests, Nik Coppin touches upon the fact that he is "Half Black" in the many stories he tells from his travels around the world, but he never gives you the impression that he has suffered... full review

Invisible

Anya Warburg was anything but invisible in her solo performance at the Complex Theatre. Ms. Warburg's solo show was simple and direct and a very satisfying piece of theatre. Anya Warburg has the stage presence and acting skill necessary to hold an audience's attention, both of which she displays in telling her personal story as well as portraying several other characters in that tale. Debra Deliso's direction was smart and fit the material in its simplicity and honesty and the set and lights ... full review
