First Love/Worst Love

This is a beautiful little treat of a show. minutelovestories is very aptly named. Essentially a series of danced monologues, this is an exciting new kind of play that is unlike anything I have seen before. A mixture of live music, gesture, semi-choreography, and bite sized tales of love and loss combine to create a truly enjoyable (and relatable) half hour of theatre. ... full review

Four Clowns presents That Beautiful Laugh

What I am so consistently impressed by when it comes to Four Clowns is the immense physical commitment of each and every member of the troupe onstage. Each clown is so unique and their character choices are crystal clear and delightful. This show continues that company tradition beautifully. For this particular production, I really enjoyed watching the troupe take on a more family friendly theme and extra exciting theatrical elements (several wonderful shadow puppet sequences in particular). Really strong actors, engaging script, and directing that is just hands-off enough to be able to let these actors play and live in the world they have created. The small amount of fight choreography is especially convincing and effective...terrifying really. You can tell that this ensemble has strengths in that area. And they bring a hell of a lot of heart to the stage. This show could easily fall into the trap of being extremely one note, but the actors dodge that bullet for the most part and... full review

Lost Moon Radio Episode 12

I haven't laughed so hard in the theatre in a really long time. Incredible show from Lost Moon Radio...when DJ Jack said farewell at the end I actually found myself letting out a soft squeal of "No!" I wanted it to go on forever! So creative, so hilarious, and everyone onstage is having such an earnest great time. Din't miss this show!... full review

Hilarious character choices, exquisitely crafted physical comedy, mile a minute pacing...just as great farce should be. Coeurage Theatre never disappoints with their quality of work. Don't miss this show!... full review

Leprechauns & Lies

Chad is a fantastic storyteller. His conversational tone and endearing sense of humor win you over within the first few minutes of the show. He brings fresh light to ideas that have been talked about for centuries. My favorite sequence, for example, was a slideshow about a child's first introductions to school and church and heaven and god...done in an incredibly simple and unique way that was really refreshing. Like one of the reviewers has already said, I have a hard time with one man/woman ... full review

Clowns, Goddesses & Tough Guys

This show is fun to listen to. James Schneider's stories of knocking on all sorts of celebrities doors as a 12 year old boy to ask for their autographed pictures are sweet and funny and often touching. What is really engaging though is the obvious pain and passion that is bubbling just under the surface in Schneider's telling of these light anecdotes. You really get the sense that these autographs are helping him keep a lot of emotion at bay. That engaging passion was broken a few times, due ... full review

Voices from Chornobyl Jr.

This show is exactly what educational children's theatre should be. It is always a dialogue and never a lecture. Katya is the audience's window into the story and her charming curiosity encourages the audience to wonder and question as well. I was amazed and impressed with how the playwright, cast, and director managed to tell the story of a horrible disaster in such a simple, open, and personal way. Given the content, this production could have easily swayed into the territory of scare tactics a... full review
