Pre-Festival Event Safety Breakdown

To keep our community safe, we have the following COVID requirements in place for our pre-Festival events.

It’s a FREAKin’ Fundraiser
Wednesday, March 23

Due to the nature of this event (live band karaoke, food & drink indoors and movable seating), we are requiring a negative test from all attendees. Although masks will be recommended, they will not be required at this event, especially while performing, eating or drinking. In this venue, attendees will be required to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (booster not required but recommended).

Town Hall #2: Prepping for Fringe
Saturday, April 16

This event will follow our artist safety guidelines. In short, this event will require proof of vaccination (booster recommended but not required) or a negative test result within 72 hours of the event (48 hours if antigen test, not PCR). Masks will be required at this event. While cloth masks are acceptable, it is highly encouraged that you wear a medical grade mask (surgical/3-ply, KN95, KF94 and N95 masks).

Office Hours

All of our office hour locations will have different requirements depending on the space’s own guidelines. Please see this blog for a full breakdown.

Our Festival event guidelines will drop with our audience guidelines on April 18, 2022.

SAMPLE BUDGETS

During our Budgeting & Fundraising Workshop, we talk a lot about where and when to spend your dollars when producing a Fringe show. The overall consensus was that there are no hard and fast rules— that you need to do what’s best for you, your production and most importantly, your story.

Here are a few sample budgets from very different productions. When using these budgets, don’t forget to count for a little inflation (2-3% per year).

We hope this helps!

This budget is comprehensive of a 7 show musical run with paid actors and musicians. Since there was such a large cast and crew, there was a need for paid rehearsal space for 50 hours. This is the dream budget, and one that came from many years of producing.

With ticket sales alone, even with sold out houses, there was no way this would break even, so this producer did a lot of self-fundraising and paid out of pocket.

This is a more realistic budget for many new producers, with a 5-performance run. You would rehearse mostly in free space until April/May, and then spend a little to do some more realistic blocking in a full rehearsal space.

This is a solo project (5 performances) that was not only launching at Hollywood Fringe, but had plans to tour afterwards and needed the support to realistically bring it to the next stage. Since this is a prospective budget, there was no plans for how to make the money back in the budget itself, but the plan was ticket sales + crowdfunding.

BUDGET TEMPLATE

This is a budget that you can use to begin your Fringe journey.

The Hollywood Fringe Festival is accepting applications for Fringe Mentors to support its Fringe Scholarships program. Fringe Scholarships are available to first-time Hollywood Fringe producers who contribute to the ethnic, cultural, racial, intellectually or physically disabled, D/deaf, formerly incarcerated, and the LGBTQ+ diversity of the Fringe community.

As a Fringe Mentor, you will be paired with a scholarship recipient and will exist as their go-to Fringe friend & confidant. APPLY NOW!

Mentor criteria:
1) You must have completed at least one Hollywood Fringe Festival

2) You must be available for a check-in with your mentee every week (starting mid-March) in the weeks leading up to and during the Hollywood Fringe Festival (i.e. phone call, text or email)

3) You must be available for a one-hour pre & post festival meeting (can be in person, Skype, phone call, etc) with your mentee in the first 2 weeks of your partnership (March 15-March 30) and following the 2022 festival

4) You must also attend events with your mentee. The more help the better! We encourage you to attend as many Town Halls, Workshops & Office Hours as possible as well as any other Fringe Scholarship Specific events. No in-person meetings or events will be required. There are virtual options

All Fringe Mentors will receive digital ads to promote their own projects as well.

*Fringe Mentor Applications are due on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at 11:59 pm.
