Michael works as a writer, director, actor, producer and designer. He has received LA Weekly, LADCC, Ovation and Garland Awards for his work on Nosferatu, The Master and Margarita, Pathe ‘X, Uppa Creek, Noche Negro, The Slow and Painful Death of Sam Shepard, Heart of a Dog, Gorey Stories, The Swine Show, The Room, James Joyce’s, The Dead and Joe’s Garage.
As an actor some of Michael’s favorite roles include playing Austin in Shepards’s True West. The Rat King in Dzuma/The Plague. Lang in Mamet’s, The Water Engine. Jason in The Despoiled Shore/Medea Material,The Landscape of the Argonauts. Aphrainus and The Police Inspector in The Master and Margarita. Joe in Saroyan’s, The Time of Your Life. The King in How to Explain the History of Communism to Mental Patients. Man in Neil LaBute’s west coast premiere of Autobahn. Freddie Mahlins in James Joyce’s, The Dead. The Father in Julie Hebert’s, Saint Joan and the Dancing Sickness.
The Water Seller in Brecht’s, Good Woman of Setzuan.
As a Director Zoo Story, Play Strindberg, Fool for Love, Julius Ceasar, Noche Negro, Misdirected, Sex and Imagining, Heart of a Dog, The Room, and the staged reading of Elephant’s Graveyard. Michael is happy to present his new play The Interview as his contribution to this years Hollywood Fringe.

As a Writer Michael has written four award-winning plays. His adaptations of Bulgakov’s, The Master and Margarita with Rick Helweg and Heart of a Dog. His adaptation of Frank Zappa’s, Joe’s Garage with Pat Towne and his original play, The Room. Other plays include The Face of Evil with Pat Towne and Joe Seely and Noche Negro with Joe Seely, The Wall, Michael has also written for television and film.
Michael is an alumnus of the famed Second City in Chicago.
Michael toured the former Soviet Republics as Jason in Heiner Mueller’s The Despoiled Shore/Medea Material/Landscape of the Argonauts performing notably at The Lenin Theatre in Moscow and The Octobrinskaya Theater in Saint Petersburg.
His adaptation of Heart of a Dog had its world premiere at the Ivan Franko National Theatre of Ukraine in Kiev.
Michael has played The Edinburgh Fringe Festival with The Open Fist in How to Explain the History of Communism to Mental Patients.
Most recently Michael was in Korea playing The Korean International Theater Festival with Mephisto.
Michael has performed and been produced all over the world and is happy to be participating in the Hollywood Fringe and offering his new play The Interview.
