The Last Croissant

The Last Croissant is a dazzling pop-up book of a show that looks like Wes Anderson and sounds like Terry Pratchett. It's an oddball comedy that tenderly revolves around self-acceptance, personal anxieties, and being true to one's self.... full review

Earth To Karen

Bernstein & Picot have done it again. Bernstein brings his signature off-kilter eccentric charm that warms your heart in ways you weren't previously aware of. Picot's direction makes the production very true to itself, revealing it's kooky befuddled little heart. Earth to Karen is so sweet I had to chase it with a strawberry cheesecake crepe.... full review

Urban Theatre Movement Presents: Urban Unrest

A show where the seats should have seatbelts installed. A completely electrifying show that forces the audience to come to terms with their political stance and does so in a way that isn't preachy or corny - which is difficult with a politicis-fueled show. Every performer displayed such commitment that made me marinate in the moment. If you don't think Urban Theatre Movement is the future of LA theatre then you're a fucking idiot. ... full review

Metalhead

Easily one of the most fun Fringe productions I've seen. The show is completely aware of itself and successfully takes as a stage of it through snarky political remarks and tongue-in-cheek humor. Completely outrageous, every single actor commits bringing energy and vitality to the stage! Overall a fun, campy, and goofy time.... full review

There has been a stigma towards solo performances that lead people to roll their eyes and sigh, and I suppose I understand why some people may feel like that. However, do not - DO NOT - let those reserved feelings prevent you from seeing this show. Kurkendaal is a master weaver in storytelling, the moment Kurkendaal enters the stage his infectious buoyant attitude and pep immediately draws you into the story. This is the sort of charming comic storytelling that should be featured on This American... full review

ONE WOMAN SHOW with a couple other people

harim sanchez · June 11, 2017 certified reviewer
Goldstein is a one-woman variety show ranging from off-beat Kaufman-esque comedy to enthralling vocal/music performances. Right off the bat, Goldstein lets you know that this is her show and she'll do whatever the fuck she wants, whether you like it or not - and the confidence and tenacity behind that makes it easier and more enjoyable for the audience to enjoy the ride. Goldstein holds the reigns of the show with wild curiosity and eccentricity; she's pretty much living all our childhood dreams ... full review
