An hour of fun for the religiously traumatized! Amen was such a charming play with countless lines that have continued to stick with me even days later. Stephanie Wolf and Adrian Gamez's God is truly a sight to behold; the level of talent and coordination among the two is incredible. James Leonida’s Bro! was such a charming show with a strong commentary on the meaning of gender. James provides definitions for masculinity from two perspectives: his own, as a trans artist, and from his terrifying/hilarious character, Chad, providing a brilliant satire of “alpha male” culture paired with such an honest approach to gender identity from a queer perspective. Audrey Valcourt’s Vampire Nightclub, 1983 is genuinely one of the coolest and most moving pieces of theatre that I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing. A gorgeous allegory for queerness that transcends time (because, you know, vampires), it manages to make you both laugh at its relatability and cry at its reality.
