Kai Hazelwood has been dancing for over 22 years blending a traditional Ballet background with contemporary lyricism, modern, and post-modern influences, funk, and ethnic flair ranging from West African to Argentine Tango dancing. These days her work is more in the realm of dance theater with some circus sensibilities, thanks to a growing passion for circus arts ranging from silks to clowning.

Trained at the San Francisco Ballet school for six years, she honed her performance skills with the Dance Theater of Harlem in New York. Ms Hazelwood was fortunate enough to train at the Kirov Ballet in St Petersburg Russia, as well as participate in the professional training program at Alvin Ailey School of Dance. After completing a season with the Oakland Ballet Company, Kai has relocated to Los Angeles where she has received her first two mentions in the LA Times after taking short contracts with local companies; she is currently a passionate dance instructor, budding choreographer and student completing her last year at UCLA to receive a degree in Dance.
