Does your company, production, or art include green practices, or promote environmental issues?

The Upcyclers along with The Zoo Theatre Co. are committed to creating socially provocative work that confronts challenges in the world such as climate change and sustainability. The Zoo has upheld green theatre practices since it’s inception, and has created The Upcyclers, which is both a new musical as well community outreach organization to inspire sustainable change in our culture.

Qualifications

Theatre Companies, Arts Venues, and Individual Shows participating in Hollywood Fringe 2018 can qualify for this award.

To qualify you must be committed to becoming sustainable in your theatre practices (for example, but not limited to:)
- Not selling or using single-use-plastic bottles
- Reduced-waste concessions (No plastic packaging)
- Responsibly sourcing props and costumes, using recycled material
- Encourage public transportation
- Let people know you are green
- Creating Environmental-Educational Content
- Digital Playbills
- Double sided or reduced sized scripts

As a show/company you must also:
- Have a subject or message of environmental issues or sustainability.
OR
- Demonstrate green practices for your production.
And
- Provide 1-2 comp tickets to your show to be reviewed by the The Upcyclers Team.

Methodology

In order for a project to qualify for consideration, it must follow the easy guidelines above.

The nominees will be judged by our company board, using a cumulative point system based on the following:

- Demonstrated commitment to green practices
- Creativity in sustainable Design
- Green Message/Content

Reward

The Upcyclers will provide a statuette with personalized inscription for the winning project, company or venue.
