Qualifications
The winning production must feature and will be scored on the following criteria:
—A non-proscenium audience arrangement which creates or engages a 360 degree environment
—A clear sense of the audience’s “role” within the piece
Do I, as an audience member, inform the shape of the experience with my presence? Do I know why I am there?
—A strong narrative/experiential thread that is strengthened by the immersive nature of the piece
Did the writing, design, and performance create a clear world and a meaningful path for all audience members to travel?
Was this thread strengthened or supported by the immersive nature of the piece?
—Clear and engaging interaction between audience and performer/environment
— Did the immersive nature of the performance feel vital to the overall experience?
Methodology
Productions will be scored by Speakeasy Society directors in accordance with their achievement in the above criteria.
Reward
Award:
The show with the highest score will receive The Golden Key, a symbol of the production’s ability to unlock a new world for guests.
