What I liked

The backstory, including a genuinely fascinating take on vampire lore.
The dancing and movement in general.
The whole immersive experience.
The fact it blended Bram Stoker’s tale with LeFanu’s CARMILLA (I am not unbiased in this respect)
The way women’s roles were shifted into something other than Victorian ingenues.
The performances of several members of the cast, especially the characters that pretty much exist throughout.

What I didn't like

Most of the cast lacked the vocal training to match the impressive physical training.
It really is too short. This story pretty much demands more time to tell it.
The rhythm in some scenes seemed “off” especially at the very start (this is a common problem in theatre, imho)
Honestly, I suspect a better venue for this might be elsewhere, albeit probably not in the Fringe…

My overall impression

An entertaining and intriguing theatrical version of a gothic classic (well, actually two). Kudos to Dracula, Lucy, Harker, Van Helsing, Mina and Seward in particular for bring so much nuance on stage. I have seen so many DRACULAs on stage so that am forever looking for an original, intriguing one. This production certainly qualifies on so many levels. Bravo!
