Cockroach Dialogues

A cockroach I wrote a funny song about once got me a spot on the Disney Channel. So I have to admit I'm prejudiced. Even so, like Kafka before me, I anthropomorphized the insect. In this play, the cockroach retains his roachiness in thought and deed. He seems to veritably scurry across the stage, and I'm convinced if a cockroach could talk, he'd sound exactly like Demetris Hartman. He is the voice of reason to Wayne, played with pathos by Mark Binet, the more hapless of the hapless LA couple tryi... full review

Aurora and Larry

As as a former hippie, I thoroughly enjoyed this walk down memory lane. Jennifer touches on many of the important issues of this era: intentional communities, feminism, the war on drugs, PTSD, and New Age philosophy. Through everything, Aurora and Larry remain connected by the bonds of love that ultimately unite brother and sister. This is a sweet and sometimes harrowing story told with imagination and humor.... full review

The Last Known Recording of the Lovely Lenore Sisters

Everything about this show was wonderful.. (Could a play about quadruplets be next?) The writing, the acting, the music... Ms. Kenyon would be a triple threat even if she weren't portraying triplets! I hope to see much more of her on stage in years to come. The story kept you guessing from the time it began, and left you wanting more when the lights came down. Absolutely charming. A must see!! ... full review

Why Water Falls

I came, I saw, she conquered. It's no small feat to hold an audience's attention for 90 minutes, but wonderful writing and brilliant acting can make that happen. This show was especially relevant to me because we are both baby boomers who decided not to have children and had to deal with the ramifications of that choice. I applaud her artistic bravery, particularly at this time in our nation's history when women's rights to reproductive choice are being severely challenged. I highly recomm... full review

Prepare yourself for an hour of intelligent, thought provoking hilarity-- poetry, stories, songs, surprising rhythm instruments-- the works. This dynamic duo does it with panache. And you even get a chance to sing along. Who could ask for more? It was kind of like the Smothers Brothers with estrogen. Go! You owe it to yourself. ... full review

The Wake

Ben Moroski did a fantastic job in this one person show as Pete Harrisburg, who is still smarting from the breakup with his last girlfriend. He kept you riveted from start to finish with an emotional depth and intensity that was soul stirring, yet still managed to be hilariously funny. The play never ceased to surprise and astonish, with lighting cues that teased the character as they changed the small stage from an apartment to a rave to a bedroom without missing a beat. Ben has the gift of comp... full review

Harold & Stella: Love Letters

eileen weiner · June 14, 2014 certified reviewer
The story of Harold and Stella was fascinating. I was surprised by the ending, and the film clip after the show of actual footage of Ms. Adler was the icing on the cake. The actor who played Harold the night I attended did a great job. Granted, his letters were more entertaining and emotional, so he had more to work with. The Stella was beautiful and had a lovely voice, but I felt she could have put more feeling into her role. I rarely got the sense that hers were actually love letters. They were... full review
