Only the Beginning Makes its World Premiere
At the Hollywood Fringe Festival this Summer

(Los Angeles, Calif.) – Divorce has become a very common practice in our modern culture and there are a myriad of wrong ways to handle one. Only the Beginning, a story about one of the wrong ways will be presented at Sacred Fools Theater in Second Stage during the Hollywood Fringe Festival this June. Written/starring Bobby Lester and directed by Katherine Hoevers, Only the Beginning performances are June 3 at 8:30pm, June 10 at 2:30pm, June 14 at 10:00pm, June 17 at 3:30pm, June 18 at 11:00am and 10:30pm and June 22 at 8:00pm. The play, Only the Beginning, follows a young man on the brink of adulthood as he navigates through his parents’ divorce. After his father walks out on their family, Bobby, a soon-to-be college graduate, finds himself putting his dreams on hold to take care of his mother as she seemingly falls apart. As new information is uncovered, he must decide for himself what is really important: his family or his happiness.

Although fictional, Only the Beginning was written in response to the playwright’s experience with his parents during their tumultuous divorce. The director Katherine Hoevers, said “one of the most beautiful parts of theatre is the ability to rewrite history. This play has been the playwright’s opportunity to rewrite his history”.

Only the Beginning features Bobby Lester, Nina Ladegaard, Craig Tyrl, Michael Dean, Daniel Botello, Siena Ledger and Lauren Preece. The creative team includes assistant director Heidi Palomino Anderson, lighting designer Brandon Baruch, and stage manager Rachel Manheimer.
