"AL QAEDA FIGHTS GLOBAL WARMING" (3 SHOWS BY FRINGE'S BUSIEST COMIC)

HOLLYWOOD SHOW PORTRAYS JESUS AS A PRISONER AT GUANTANAMO…
A performer at this year’s Hollywood Fringe Festival claims that Al Qaeda reduces carbon emissions.
Irish comedian Abie Philbin Bowman is the writer and performer of three Fringe shows, including Eco-Friendly Jihad. He argues that Bin Laden’s terrorists fight global warming.
Performing at the UK’s Brighton Fringe in May, Bowman told audiences: “The major causes of climate change are airlines, oil companies and overpopulation. Al Qaeda is tackling all three.”
Earlier this year, Eco-Friendly Jihad received an unofficial endorsement from Osama Bin Laden. Al Jazeera reported that a new audiotape from the Al Qaeda leader blamed the US for climate change.*
Bowman dismissed the statement. “If the best Al Qaeda can do is steal ideas from infidel Irish comedians, I think they’re losing the War on Terror.”
The Dubliner is no stranger to controversy. In another show at the Hollywood Fringe, he plays the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
In Jesus: The Guantanamo Years, Christ returns to earth, “but He doesn’t get through US immigration, because He’s a bearded, Middle-Eastern guy, ready to die as a martyr.”
The controversial comedy has already sold out across Ireland and the UK, touring the East Coast, London’s West End and Pakistan. Bowman is the only Western stand-up “dumb enough” to perform religious comedy in a Muslim country, during a State of Emergency.
In his native Ireland, where blasphemy is illegal, Bowman has endured pickets, bomb scares, and a boycott by Northern Ireland’s largest political party (founded by the famous hardliner, Rev Ian Paisley).
In heated radio debates, Bowman hit back at his critics by citing scripture. “Christ said ‘What you do to the least of these, you do also to me’. By that standard, if we water-board people in Guantánamo, we’re doing that to Jesus as well.”
Building on the success of ‘Jesus: The Guantanamo Years’, Bowman now teaches workshops on how to write and tour a one-person show. He’ll conduct two at the Hollywood Fringe.
Christ also makes an appearance in Bowman’s third show, Sex, Lies & the KKK. The comedy is based on exclusive interviews with the Ku Klux Klan, broadcast live on President Obama’s election night.
Bowman questioned the Klan’s opposition to mixed race unions, given their Christian beliefs. “Jesus’ Mother was a Palestinian Jew and His Father was God. Doesn’t that make Jesus mixed race?”
Clearly the Irishman is unafraid of controversial subjects. But he insists it’s not just blind anger. “I do try to come up with positive solutions at the end of each show.”
According to Bowman, “if you come to all three, we can end racism, stop climate change and bring peace to the Middle East… all while laughing.”
