Go! Do not miss this gem. The story has a surprising conflict. Allen Rosenberg plays the sage with humor and vulnerability. Dominick Raina has a charm and intensity that's so interesting to watch. The direction brought it all together by using this small space to really enhance the danger of their conflict. I can see why this playwright as won so many awards. This play kicks butt! The near poetic dialogue bristles but never feels artificial, clever without calling attention to itself. And the performances! Wow. I’ve never seen Alan Rosenberg, the former president of SAG and major TV star, on stage, let alone in such an intimate space. This is a must-see performance. And Dominic Rains is a barely leashed tiger. The danger was palpable, the ending devastating.... full review

One of the most exhilarating plays I've seen in a long time. Robert Litz has written an intriguing story full of twists and turns. The direction was superb. Dominic Rains and Alan Rosenberg are nothing short of brilliant. One of those rare moments in theater that leaves you buzzing with excitement long after the play concludes. Litz and Rains come to us from the Elephant Theatre Company, and the caliber of their talents is evident. Go see this one.... full review

SEE CYCLES! Brilliant acting , ELEPHANT THEATRE COMPANY'S DOMINIC RAINS is more than fantastic, and ALAN ROSENBERG is very moving and quite smart. Direction couldn't be better. What a great show! Across the boards the writing, acting and directing were all top notch! A fascinating premise and the story unfolds beautifully. Both Dominick and Allen gave fantastic performances, and Robert Litz's script is wonderfully crafted, nicely weaving intrigue with heart felt pathos and human drama. Well Done!... full review

CYCLES delivers on many levels; the dialogue is sharp and pointed, the acting and direction top-notch, and the plot turn late in the play takes the work in an unexpected direction...definitely a highlight of the Fringe Festival and deserving of a wide audience.... full review

In "Cycles", a young jock on the make and an older man meet at a gym. By the time this entertaining play ends fifty minutes later, what begins as a “chance” encounter, full of witty and casual banter and bon hommie, credibly—and relentlessly—ends explosively in a moment of raw emotional power and heartbreaking pathos. Playwright Robert Litz’ gift for dialogue is witty, sparkling, terse—and deviously menacing; its subtext, though never too far below the surface, keeps digging deeper until we become privileged to peek not just into the characters’ souls, but the actors’ as well. Alan Rosenberg and Dominic Rains mine it for all its worth. Given the terrific dialogue and interesting characters, both actors communicate something beyond play... full review

WILLARD MANUS, Total Theater Robert Litz's powerful one-act play, Cycles, was one of the finest things I've seen at the 2012 Hollywood Fringe. Set in a Boston Fitness Club, Cyclespits Jake (Alan Rosenberg) and Buzz (Dominic Rains) against each other in a swiftly unfolding battle not just for dominance but survival. Jake and Buzz are obvious opposites: the former is an elderly, wisecracking Jew who hates exercise; the latter is a young, intense Italian who trains like a fanatic. But Litz digs deep and comes up with the essential differences between them -- life and death differences. It turns out that Jake, a successful real-estate entrepreneur, owned the small house Buzz grew up in -- a house that suddenly went up in flames, taking ... full review
