Los Angeles, CA (August 18, 2021) – Recipients of a 2021 Hollywood Fringe Scholarship, Arthur Stanley Chong and Pamela Paek present a series of comedic sketches around being Korean- and Korean-Black-American and the ways we codeswitch, tamp down, or amp up our Koreanness and who we are. From how to cope/deal with good-intentioned people suffering from ignorance to knowing what honors our identities and heritage without mocking and degrading for the easy laugh, we tackle it all with honesty, ferocity, and fun.
Developed for the 2020 short fringe festival Frontera Fest in Austin, TX, followed by a 5-minute short film featured at the 2020 Asian American Film Labs’ 72-hour Shootout, 1.5 Korean has grown from shorts to a full hour for the 20
