This is the work. To take Euripides age old classic and remind us that the story of Medea will never die. It lives because Yokko gave her body, gave her heart all to the work. To hear Medea speak from Yokko’s mouth took me to a space I did not expect. I believed she was an outsider, onstage alone. I saw her torment and love within the choreography that the monologue was an extra revelation. The power of stillness is real and hard to manifest onstage with poignancy. Yokko gives us a masterclass on its power and as it reaches right down into your solar plexus and sits there. The piece really comes alive for me in the revelation of seeing Medea at her most true for the journey from a young girl in love to now is not pretty. Wonderful work and I... full review

Every aspect of this show was stunning and executed with such confidence and skill. The lighting, the costumes, the sound design, music and choreography were superb. And Yokko, the performer, gave one of the most powerful and emotional performances I have ever seen. Within minutes of the show starting, I felt like I was hit by a wave of emotional force. Performed by an incredible physical actor, the story of Medea is courageously taken on in the true depths that it deserves. Most of the time when this story is told, It is half told; the directors and actors who fear having to "go there" to the dark, terrifying and devastating reality of Medea's story, circumstances and experience just simply "tell" the story instead of SHOWING it to us. Yokko is an actor that does not go half way; she works through Medea's challenges physically and emotionally and we root for her the whole way as she slowly transitions from loving mother and wife to a beast. We all know how it ends, but still we wish and hope for this character because Yokko pulls us in on that journey so that the story is so new to us that... full review
