If you are of a certain age, you might remember Double Dare – it was a kid’s game show on Nickelodeon which featured an upbeat host asking trivia questions and offering physical challenges to the contestants. It was great.
And the spirit of that great show is BACK in a terrific new game show Buzz’d Out! Live playing LIVE at the Hollywood Fringe this year! Theaters across Hollywood are buzzing with creativity and passion in eager anticipation of the Hollywood Fringe Festival coming in June. Popular Fringe venue Studio/StageLA is offering a first of the festival’s kind: an interactive game show “Buzz’d Out Live!” hosted by accomplished magician and mind reader Ben Benjamins.
“It’s a crazy live game show that’s wacky and a ton of fun,” Benjamins explains, “anyone who’s always wanted to be on a messy, fun, and wild game show, this is their chance.”

Benjamins has been a resident of Pasadena for almost a decade and with his partner, Roe Moore, created the game show with the assistance of Pasadena Media. “Buzz’d Out!” is clever, entertaining, and just a plain wild TV game show that airs on The Arroyo Channel, a Pasadena’s local cable access channel. Barbra Dillon, Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief: Your production, Buzz’d Out Live!, will soon be debuting as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival. For those who may be unfamiliar, what can you tell us about the show’s premise and format?

Ben Benjamins: It’s a trivia game show with a twist. It’s like Jeopardy for people who love pudding. It’s kind of an amalgamation of our favorite game shows that created this fast-paced game show where contestants do goofy or weird things in order to buzz in and answer questions to win points…

Most television game shows have buzzers to ring in on general knowledge in order to score. It takes speed and reflexes to buzz in before the time’s up noise goes off. But one game show in Pasadena has decided to do it their way.

Behold, I give you Buzz’d Out. The show in which regular buzzers are substituted with things you use to buzz in. For instance, crack a confetti egg over your head would be an example of a buzzer. Another example would be getting a paper airplane through a hula hoop, and perhaps you can spit cherries into a bucket to ring in. It’s like Jeopardy! had to babysit Double Dare….or Fun House. Ben Benjamins keeps the loonies in line by asking trivia questions and adding some humor to the show and every round gets closer and closer to elimination. The sole survivor at the end gets a chintzy prize plus a gift card to a local establishment.
