Easy Targets: Artists and Heroes
Notes by Noah J. Nelson

I laughed so hard at one point, I worried that I was going to have a stroke. A collection of four deliberately terrible solo shows that are brilliantly executed to be so: all to encourage the audience to pelt the performers with rolled up socks. (Just 25 cents a sock! Refills available after each solo performance.) It’s a thing of comic beauty. Interactive theatre at its most raucous.

Last year’s Winner of the HFF17 Best Comedy Award, “Easy Targets,” brought to the Hollywood Fringe Festival by members of the Burglars of Hamm at the then-Sacred Fools Theater–now The Broadwater–gave a gave deal of relief, albeit only temporarily, in the politically charged atmosphere that was our dumpster fire of the post-election of 45.

But this year’s, “Easy Targets, Artists and Heroes” at The Broadwater, sold out for preview on Saturday, June 2, 2018, appears to be responding to the resulting political and daily breaking-news-burnout we’ve been experiencing, and instead look more inward. That’s not to say that this year’s “Easy Targets, Artists and Heroes,” tightly directed by Jaime Robledo, is avoiding politically charged material–not at all! But the four vignettes that culminate “Easy Targets” still do endeavor to provide cathart

Named for Juno; Roman goddess of marriage. (Not the 2007 Diablo Cody/Jason Reitman cloying coming-of-age flick.)

It was June back in 1903 that Henry Ford took a few days offs from his busy schedule of “Jew-baiting” to found the Ford Motor Company,

It’s National Accordion Awareness Month (But is one month really enough?)

It’s also National Adopt a Cat Month.

In Poland it’s the month of Czerwiec.

It was the month the Great Auk went extinct in 1844 and saw the opening of the first American roller coaster at Coney Island in 1884.

In 1890, it was the month Stan Laurel was born.

And June 29 marks the

EASY TARGETS Returns To The Hollywood Fringe

by BWW News Desk Apr. 18, 2018

EASY TARGETS Returns To The Hollywood FringeBurglars of Hamm return to the Fringe with their interactive sock- throwing parody of one-person shows, EASY TARGETS, named Best Comedy at the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival.

EASY TARGETS is for every audience member who has sat in the dark at a bad play thinking they now know what prison must be like. It allows the audience to act out the fantasy of punishing their jailers. A satire of one-person-shows, EASY TARGETS presents 4 short solo shows and then invites the audience to show their “appreciation” by pummeling the performers with rolled-up socks any time they feel bored, annoyed, patronized, manipulated, etc. Each audience of EASY TARGETS forms a pack working to remind the performers, writers and designers that if they fail to respect the audience, they will suffer the sock.

This year’s show is entitled EASY TARGETS: ARTISTS AND HEROES which comprise
