Danna Schaeffer's show You in Midair generously gives viewers an honest look into her and her husband Benson's loss of their only child Rebecca and how they have coped over the years. Her willingness to relive this tragic event mixed with moments of humor has made this work an ode to Rebecca's memory and a gift to all who are blessed enough to see it.... full review

Stop what you're doing right now and get tickets for this amazing one-woman show! This is a tour de force by writer and first-time actor Danna Schaeffer takes the audience on her personal nightmare that began with the murder of her only child. Rebecca Schaeffer was a beautiful, talented and successful actress, age 21, when an obsessed fan shot and killed her. How does a mother cope with the awful truth? How does she go on living? Answer: With a great sense of humor, a loving husband, a more humor. See this play. You'll laugh and cry, just like she did. ... full review

A heart felt performance from a mother who has endured the sudden death of her only child, presented with humor, bitter sweet memories and a demonstration that the death of a loved one is a lifelong journey of absorption, adjustment and acceptance. Bravo, Danna! ... full review

Wonderful writing...performed with such authenticity....lively humor and a good deal of unapologetic pain............at times so difficult to bear. Ultimately uplifting...although the climate we live in at the moment gave much pause for thought and sadness. I'm too close to it all to be really objective. ... full review

I found this show quite affecting as a rumination on grief and loss, with many moments of humor and insight about dealing with the ongoing effects of losing a loved one. With only a few moments that pertain to the very specific and high-profile nature of Mrs. Shaeffer's daughter's death, this piece serves as an elegy that is very relatable to anyone who has been in a similar position. The writer's feelings and experiences are organized very thoughtfully and effectively, and performed with great care and specificity.... full review

Wonderful writing performed with such authenticity. Danna Schaeffer pulls into her worst nightmare, her daughter Rebecca's murder, that has the audience crying at times. But there is also a lot of humor sprinkled in as Danna and Benson are forced to cope with this tragedy and move on with their lives. This is a heart felt play that will stick with me for awhile. Bravo Danna! ... full review

Thank goodness art, in all its expressions, releases pressure on the heart when too much pressure or pain is laid on it. If a scab must be ripped off, no better than with a sharp wit that can, before you finish dabbing tears away, make a smile break across your face - that is what Danna Schaeffer does. She takes you on a heartbreaking yet jovial journey through stages of loss from the perspective of a parent who not only lost a daughter violently, but had to grieve and cope in Hollywood's glare. Be prepared to be jolted and perhaps to shed a few tears, but you will leave the theater thankful and inspired. ... full review

Danna's willingness to bare her soul in telling the horrific story of her daughter's murder is so stunning! It's just a beautiful tribute to her daughter and her family and it is a testimony to how you must go on, no matter what happens.
