Assembly Call presents the ensemble movement piece “House of Tales”, which opens on June 2nd, at the Dorie Theatre at the Complex Theater 6476 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90038
Attempting to find our artistic identities, we, a group of young Chinese artists, look back at the ancient Chinese folklore “聊斋 Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio” written in 1740, only to find ourselves lost in between reality and fantasy. Intrigued by our own culture, we gathered from USC, UCLA, and CalArts to attempt to find our own voices in Los Angeles through exploration of devising, improvision, and movement. Now we open the door of the house of tales and invite you to witness the struggle of the “in-between” identity.
