There is never a dull moment in this show. Raw feelings of the characters create a powerful arc around grief in a family long after the immediate loss. It explores what lingers for each of them and is complicated with an interracial element. Even though this a dramatic topic, the amazing director and terrific cast inject humor with heart into the show accented masterfully with the use of the props that help give the absent family member a place on the stage. Fuchou with Bourbon focuses on a fractious father-child relationship in a contemporary mixed race family. Daughter Rose seeks revenge on her father for his betrayal of her mother. Rose cannot find peace after her loving mother's death.

Fuchou also effectively explores a strong sister relationship that enhances and adds tension to a finely written piece....

This is a wonderful play. The story is cultural and very well written. The realistic problem of international marriage was expressed clearly. The conflicts between two kids grow up together have completely different opinions about their parents. Rose’s anger was clearly toward her father, but also herself. ...
