This is a lot of theater packed onto a small stage, with strong ensemble performances led by Heather Schmidt as King Edward, some great up-close sword fighting and unexpected medieval chant and part singing. A good deal of humor and uninhibited sex (on which the story substantially turns) add to the spectacle. Highly recommended.... full review

A perfectly calibrated theatrical engine that blends period presentation and anachronistic flair. You like medieval chanting with your pounding 80's soundtrack? Done. How about beheadings with your gay-orgy-acted-out-by-women? You're covered. One thing School of Night always gets right is the presentation of classic text in a way that anyone can understand, so if you hesitate because it's Marlowe, realize you're probably used to high-school calibre performances of these old texts where even the performers don't know what they're saying. The staging, playfully creative direction, and the literate professionally-crafted performances here illuminate this text. This is a spectacular bit of theatre. See it while you can.... full review

Another impressive display of theatricality and spectacle by thIs talented company! There is nothing as thrilling as the clang of real metal on metal, which you get plenty of here-- the show is like a way more intimate, more X-rated (yes, definitely X, not R!!) Medieval Times: the battles were incredibly impressive. Heather Schmidt is charming and hilarious as the lead, her small stature creating hilarious contrast with her much larger costars. The ensemble works beautifully together to create a unique adaptation of Marlowe's work, which otherwise I would have never seen. The show's soundscape, often created a capella in the room, was particularly striking-- gorgeous choral singing along with strong comedic skills and expert level stage comb... full review

Kara Hume has a spot on French Accent and is delightful as Isabella and Eric Rollins as Mortimer is commanding and strong. Love the clergy message that is difficult in this play! Kudos to director and Mr. Johnson and Alex Elliot-Funk as the Bishop. Really makes sense of this part of show. Amazing curtain call also. If you like some verse you need to see this show.... full review

Run, right now, and get a ticket to this. Maybe twice. I'm not surprised by the quality of this show, as everything I've seen the ensemble and production company do in the past has been top-tier, but this one was special - phenomenal acting across the board (and shout out to incredible diction, use of language, and energy!!!), great direction and combat choreography, and an anachronistic slant and major sequence that... yer just gonna have to see for yourself. Standing ovation material. ... full review

Scarcely a surprise but The School of Night folks have killed it again. I always marvel at their ability to cram so much (fights, music, elaborate costuming, raves, first-rate performances) into so little (short run time, small space). It's a wildly entertaining spectacle that deserves all the eyes it can get. Go see it!... full review
