Los Angeles, CA: What would you do if people felt all too comfortable telling you who you are, explaining your culture and appropriating your behavior? Well, if you’re Maya Lynne Robinson, you write a solo show. Funny and fearless, Character Breakdown explores how society, relationships and family can dictate who we are and that keeping “our voice” can be harder than anticipated.
Through spoken word, song and dance, this 40-minute show aims to entertain and educate. There is never a dull moment as Ms. Robinson effortlessly transforms into author and speaker Grace Powers.
