The audience member who spontaneously blurted out running commentary through the performance. Gazing upon the beauty that is Gerard Alvarez.
What I didn't like
The threadbare set decoration. The moving from room to room without any rhyme or reason. The out-of-context dance routines. The inexplicable shift from an aspirational “immersive” format to a staged play. The rapid fire lighting cues towards the end of the show. The caterwauling of the lead actress. The uncomfortable pauses. The cramped spaces and poor sight-lines. The lack of adequate cues to move through the space.
My overall impression
I think it is a stretch to call this “immersive” just because we were moved around physically through the space. The play could use some significant improvements, but might in the long run be best suited within the confines of a proscenium arch. As presented, the shortcomings of the production served as a consistent distraction from the storyline.
