This show is an absolutely MUST SEE. Henry VIII is on trial in purgatory, and his jury is comprised of his many wives... Offering a new perspective for each of the women held to the will of the second Tudor, this show is accessible to History buffs and not-so-muchs. Moves quickly, but isn't rushed. ... full review

I really enjoyed this show! I am a big history nerd and it delighted me in all of the right ways. I thought the casting was truly outstanding. Each actress played their part so well! No, I'm not forgetting you, Henry. It was so great to go on such a dynamic, emotional journey with you. Great job! James Cougar Canfield wrote a really clever play about a powerful king that continues to be defined by his wives. Love the idea that his wives are the jury in his purgatory and that Anne Boleyn won't even define it as such! I loved the grounded acting by Claiborne Tomlinson, Jennifer Haining, and Laryssa Schoeck. Elli Stovall Brown was a delightful, light, and playful Catherine Howard. Wendy K. Skuse played her power and comedic moments so well as ... full review

Wow! An ambitious historical project which functions brilliantly within the stringent production parameters of the Fringe Festival! King Henry VIII confronts his six wives (2 beheaded, 2 divorced, only one dead of natural causes, only one a tenacious survivor) in what would be Purgatory if he hadn't replaced Catholicism with his own church. Henry (also the author: James Cougar Canfield) reminded me of Kenneth Branagh (and Simon Russell Beale) in his power and skill, and all of the wives give excellent accounts of themselves, as actors and characters, varying only in the amount of influence (and playing time) they are accorded by history. Anne of Cleves (#5) comes and goes quickly; Catherine of Aragon (#1, for 18 years) appropriately clo... full review

This play was brilliantly acted, it held my attention from beginning to end. It was not only entertaining and witty, it was also full of interesting historical references, and it made me want to learn more about Henry VIII's wives! I highly recommend this production, don't miss out on one of the best plays of this year's Fringe!... full review
