Most Fun Funeral preview at the Fringe Cabaret

June 06, 2011

Anne Brashier will perform a bit of the standup that was the genesis for her solo performance party, The Most Fun Funeral, at the Fringe Cabaret Stage. Since the show has taken so many developmental twists and turns on its way to Los Angeles, Brashier is excited to reveal a bit of the personal background for this show, and to give people at the Fringe a taste of what to expect on Friday June 17. “I’m looking forward to all the energy around the Fringe starting to buzz, and very honored to be a part of it!” Catch a preview of The Most Fun Funeral at the ArtWorks Theater on the Fringe Cabaret stage on Thursday June 16th at 9 pm. A Massive Kickstarter Supporter Thank You!

June 02, 2011

The Most Fun Funeral has received FULL FUNDING (and then some) from generous supporters at Kickstarter.com.
Anne Brashier, the writer and performer of The Most Fun Funeral, decided to use Kickstarter.com once she joined forces with Skylight, an organization which offers grief support services to kids and families.
Before premiering The Most Fun Funeral in the New Zealand Fringe Festival, Brashier wanted to reach out to the grief support community in New Zealand. “Death is such a massive and sensitive subject, that it seemed wrong to go into a new community without touching base with people who might be most affected by my show. I wanted staff of these agencies and people who were in grief counseling to feel like the show was made with them in mind. While the show is not targeted to those affected by loss, it might be a great engagement point for dialogue about loss and grief.”

New Director for the Hollywood Fringe permiere of The Most Fun Funeral

May 25, 2011

Negin Singh, artistic director of cARTel, has signed on as the director for the US Premier of The Most Fun Funeral.
After the New Zealand production of The Most Fun Funeral, Anne Brashier (writer & performer) and director Robin Kerr spent a month doing a complete script overhaul, hopefully making the show darker, funnier, and more universal. Kerr graciously agreed to serve as the Hollywood production’s dramaturg, since funding for flying him from NZ to LA was limited to one hang-glider and a big bird. Both UCI alums and former performers with Live Nude People, Brashier worked with Singh on Birthdays!, produced by AHIMSA (now cARTel).
Stay tuned for more exciting updates as The Most Fun Funeral kicks into high production gear.
The Most Fun Funeral will be held on Friday June 17th at 10pm on the IO West Mainstage. Details at www.annebrashier.com

The Most Fun Funeral

March 01, 2011

Universal Fact: Everyone Dies.

Universal Truth: Some die in a monumental, epic, joy-filled
explosion of awesomeness.

Anne Brashier hosts a performance party about death, joy, and zombies. This highly interactive solo show explores the dark, depressing, awkward world of funerals through the magic of song, dance, jokes, and fireworks!

Proceeds benefit Skylight NZ, offering grief support to kids and families.

The Most Fun Funeral is a life-affirming, non-cynical, hour-long show
about death, joy, ghosts, and zombies.

Don’t miss this interactive performance experience that is
part PARTY, part FUNERAL, and all FUN.

An expert at losing parents, Anne takes a gleefully irreverent approach to putting fun in funerals. Daring, unexpected, a little like Sarah Silverman, Anne’s vibrant exploration of grief will have you laughing in the face of death!
