Theatre Unleashed knows how to entertain. Sleeping Around uses the tool of circular storytelling to explore the dynamics of open relationships and intimacy. These "scenic snapshots," which rotate through different couples, is always kept fresh and engaging: from emotional highs to lows, there is no corner untouched. Today's relationship culture is obscenely complex and constantly changing: Sleeping Around explores this with great fearlessness and heart, challenging us to reflect on just what "intimacy" is all about.... full review

What an amazing , insightful, smart, funny show. It plays like a collection of short stories. That all mingle together as a connected narrative that perfectly glides from one story to the next r. You end up feeling like you know each one of these characters even thoguh you will never hear them say each others names. On the surface it may seem that its all about sex, which is sex and fun, but it really about all the feelings, motivations, consequences , and understandings that arise from such experiences. Running only an hour it doesn't lag for even a second. You will be captivated by these people and their stories. It might even make you think about the people you've encountered. No matter how deep or loose your connection with each person y... full review

I've always hated when people tell you a cast is too large. Why do they say that? Sleeping Around proved that no cast is too large. Each character was profound, well constructed and the actors were terrific. Sex is human fact. Great comedy, drama, a great time!... full review

"Sleeping Around" features some excellent performances, clever writing, and endearing characters. Its structure not only illuminates the play's title, but mirrors the experience of life that is at the heart of the drama of the final scene. While the inherent conceit of the script's structure (which I won't reveal, because you should just go see it) breaks some traditional "rules," the result is a satisfying slice of life which puts on display the interweaving of lives and the impact of those interactions -- in addition to a character-driven deconstruction of (several of the) ways that sex and love interact for different types, different mindsets. The play allows Theatre Unleashed to play to a couple of its incredible strengths, namely its... full review

Sleeping Around is a well-paced, entertaining and touching hour of theatre directed with a deft hand by Wendy Gough Soroka. The interlocking vignettes of Cesar Abella's engaging play explore the absurdity, joy and despair of emotional nudity. The ensemble does fine work but there are standouts. Eric Cire takes the juicy role of Elliot and wrings every drop from it with a mesmerizing performance. Jim Martyka, a seasoned actor confident in his craft, skillfully finds the humor and the wounded heart of Donnie. Sammi Lappin is so honestly vulnerable and charming, utterly without artifice, that you just want to give her Angela a hug and tell her it will be OK. This is one not to be missed.... full review

Sleeping Around is a funny, sincere, beautifully honest, and tightly directed take on modern intimacy, or the lack thereof. I laughed out loud, I cried at the truthfulness of the piece, and I thoroughly enjoyed the talented ensemble and all they put into this production!... full review

Really fun show with lots of humor and twists, but also real moments of pathos. Everybody can relate to at least some of the events from their own history of relationships.... full review
