SEXY. SEXY. SEXY!!! Yet the theme was a very important one about the struggle for intimacy after years of marriage. The writing and the performers go wide and deep to bring about a very satisfying catharsis on the matter.... full review

There's a lot to like about Blood, a Voodoo Love Story: The acting. The script. The direction. I was disappointed to see that it's not a part of the Encore series, but I hope that some version of this play (hopefully with the original cast) finds wider release soon! I liked the way that Maria Tomas and Phrederic Semaj create a whole cast of characters during the hour, even though they're the only two people on stage. They employ techniques that I've only seen in one-person shows to tell this very interesting love triangle. Not to give anything away, but the way they treat one character together added an unworldly charm to an unworldly character. BLOOD, A VOODOO LOVE STORY (Platinum Medal) Michael Phillip Edwards has written and directed a dazzling, twisted, sensual, scary, strikingly clever, viciously funny, marginally pornographic and thoroughly original little morality tale about a man and a woman who meet at a sex retreat, fall in love, accidently enter into a manage a trois with an succubus from hell and are condemned to spend all eternity retelling their tale to audiences and having brain numbing magnificent sex. (Hey, it beats the hell outa pushing a big ass rock up a hill eternally!) Phrederic Semaj as “He” and Maria Tomas as “She” give tour-de-force performances.
