The show that could’ve been the first about gay marriage (…but wasn’t) is pleased to take the stage for 5 performances during the 2015 Hollywood Fringe Festival.
In our show – the fake ‘pilot’ episode of a not-ready-for-1950’s-television sitcom – audiences will meet Beau and Dottie. They are the perfect 1950’s couple, except for the fact that Beau is gay, Dottie is his beard wife and they’re forever having to hide the truth from the nosy neighbors.
And when the taboo anniversary gift Dottie gives her gay husband gets in the wrong hands their rouse of a normal life is at risk, but hopefully things will turn out okay, thanks to some quick thinking by our leads and of course some sitcom tropes.
Although MY GAYHUSBAND takes place in the 1950’s, its characters and story speak to evergreen issues of sexuality, and the freedom to be who you are all with a satirical and irreverent distinctly modern voice.
