I had the privilege of seeing Catalyst on their preview night by happenstance. I was initially hesitant as the subject matter of the play could lend itself to an hour and a half of girls whinning about their weight...it was anything but that. The writer physicalized addiction on stage with a character by the name of ED (short for eating disorder) who slithered in and out of scenes attached to the lead character. He had no lines and yet he was one of the loudest characters. Sam, the lead, spends the majority of the show oblivious to him despite the people around her being able to see it. I found myself cover in goose bumps the entire play. Not only due to the performances but due to the fact that I found a lot of myself in this play. I have ... full review

Catalyst - a deftly crafted story about self- destruction and addiction - will break your heart, and fortify it in its doing so. The actors were all incredible in portraying each character in their own singular journey and in doing so, relied on one another a poignant way. Kudos to the writer!... full review

Catalyst is one of the most unique and profound plays I've seen in this city. With its strong voice and touching story, it is not a show you'll want to miss. I laughed, I cried, and left The Complex feeling hopeful and inspired. ... full review

This is such a good show. It tackles a hard issue, eating disorders, and turns it into a funny, faced-paced, and moving evening's entertainment. April Morrow, the writer/director, and her wonderful cast have won my heart over. If you have to narrow your list of plays to see, make sure Catalyst makes the final cut. You won't be sorry.... full review

I was a little hesitant on the subject but April Morrow did a great job making this subject so relatable. I loved the artist approach of ED and was extremely surprised and brought to tears multiple times. Shows like this is the reason why I love live theater, so great! Everyone must come see it!!... full review

This was my second time seeing Catalyst and the story remains fulfilling. The LOFT Ensemble has put together a tight nit group of actors who complement each other well and understand the importance of a group mind. They bring the stage at The Complex to life using little in comparison to the image being created. Combined with dance interludes and a very obvious elephant in the room, Catalyst keeps you engaged and aware of an issue that in most cases in passed over with an uncomfortable chuckle. Catalyst is an eye opening original piece, and it belongs on your list of shows to see at Fringe.... full review

Best show on fringe! This plays takes you through an emotional journey like no other. You get to see the struggle that these girls have but how in the end there is always hope. Moving, heartfelt and simply amazing. Touching a sensitive subject the writer did an amazing job to make it relatable to everyone and she did an amazing job to bring the audience into her world to understand the struggle. I will say it a million times, BEST SHOW IN FRINGE!... full review
