My overall impression
I have been hearing about Lost Moon Radio ever since I moved to LA and finally got to see what all the buzz is about. WOW. The show is awesome. Afterward, I found myself thinking about Barry Shoenfeld, as if I really knew him! I laughed the entire time. The songs are so cleverly written and totally capture the evolution of music and the rock stars of yesteryear as well as today. There are so many times when the cast could cross that line of overdoing it or being campy, especially with the nature of the script, and yet THEY NEVER DO. They simply stay grounded in truth and play it 100% straight, which is what makes it even funnier. These off the wall characters are played so truthfully, you really believe them and empathize with their stories. January Schoenfeld is both hysterical and heartbreaking. The 3SS rapping actress is AMAZING. She totally captured the essence of TLC and that whole genre of music. The Alanis Morissette/Fiona Apple hybrid actress is Wonderful. All of the rock stars these actors created are so real. It just makes you think about what truly makes an icon, how all of these larger than life personalities make it by truly being their wacky, unique selves and that is what Lost Moon Radio does! The band rocks. The costumes rock. The voices of this ensemble rock. They are rock stars. Lost Moon Radio, you’ve just gained one more fan, and Barry Schoenfeld, you’ve got one more groupie to add to the list! GO SEE IT!
