What an assured and professional production! If you're Irish you will love the accents! The story is a good history lesson about how the original labor strikers sacrificed for our rights for a 40-hour week and a liberation from child labor!... full review

An inspiring, artfully crafted production. Bridgette Campbell's performance was truly captivating. The character she created was both real and engaging and carried us along through this story so beautifully. Christopher Wallinger gave an expressive rousing performance as Jim Larkin. What a gift to have been informed about this crucial moment in history. Bravi!... full review

I was thoroughly enchanted with Lockout. The acting, particularly Bridgette Campbell's, was really good. It is a powerful story about the beginning of labor unions in Ireland, and the cast clearly articulated the issues and the drama of the human experiences of that time and place. ... full review

Lockout was a moving story, told earnestly by one very relatable and admirable character. The delivery was incredible, the history was seamlessly interwoven into the narrative, and the message was clear. I really appreciated how Bridgette played her part, directly connecting with individuals in the audience, and making us feel united with her cause. Well done!... full review

Lockout presented the revolutionary working class struggle in turn of the century Ireland in an enchanting storytelling style. Relying heavily on the lead, Bridgette Campbell, the show, which comprises of several long monologues could have easily felt too long, but Bridgette’s delivery made the weight of the show feel tangible and real, even a century removed from the subject matter. The show gently breaks the fourth wall, by talking to the audience directly, creating intimacy and an empathy to the character’s struggles.... full review

Director Christopher Wallinger creates an an amazing ambience through a clever and believable set, apropos props and a dedicated, talented cast, as audiences are taken back to Ireland 1913, before the Easter Rising. If there is one Fringe show you should see, it should be LOCKOUT! Worth every penny!... full review

You enter the theater and standing on stage is a fiddler (violinist) playing the most nostalgic music and sent me way back to my childhood. The show is already winning. Then sat down you are transfixed with the lovely and charming set. Then it is announced that all the props and parts of the set are second hand and been custom mad for the show. The lights are yet to go up and already I'm impressed, the small details are always appreciated by me. The show itself is a very heartfelt story depicting the working class generation of the irish in the early 1900's. The beautifully charming and engaging 'Ellen Byrne' takes us on a lovely journey played by the beautifully charming and engaging Bridget Campbell. It's the only show I have seen thus far... full review

Lockout was the most moving, captivating and professional show I've seen at Fringe. The lead, Bridgette Campbell, provided a stunning portrayal of a woman devastated by the 1913 Lockout in Ireland to transport you back to a time when men, women and children fought and died for their rights as workers. Rather than deliver a long dramatic monologue, Bridgette made you feel like you were a friend sitting at her kitchen table reliving the highs and lows together. But what really took this show to the next level was the music, sound and movement happening on stage - all perfectly orchestrated and delivered by an outstanding supporting cast and ensemble. Lockout is one you don't want to miss. ... full review

The Lockout was exceptional! I loved being taken on an emotional journey into the story of the Labor Union strike in the turn of the century in Dublin, and the conditions and struggles of the laborers and the sacrifices that were made through the emotions and words of the character Ellen Byrne. The acting was so compelling! Everyone was wonderful, with Christopher Wallinger bringing intensity to his character Jim Larkin, and Lyle Friederichs who portrays James Connolly with passion and fierceness. Playing the lead character Ellen Byrne, Bridgette Campbell took the audience on a emotional journey with such seamless storytelling! I particularly loved how she connected with individual people toward the front rows when she was telling her ... full review
