There are some playwrights who would be outraged to learn of a future where the female roles they wrote were transformed into male roles in order to further an agenda of normalizing homosexuality… but Oscar Wilde would probably not be one of them. Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest” has been argued by many scholars as being a lightly veiled comedy about secret homosexuality—apparently all but completely unnoticed...

Having recently moved back to Los Angeles after ten years, I am currently having my first encounter with the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Talking with others before the show I was told that Fringe shows were mostly vanity productions (cheap to mount and giving just a few performances during the month of June) and the audience was usually made up of friends and relations. In other words—viewer beware. Well I feel like I really lucked out with my first show, Queer Classics’ version of The Importance of Being Earnest.
