A Cuppa Tea, Chris Maikish, and Jim Blackett deliver a phenomenal production of Songs for a New World! Each member of this fantastically talented four-piece ensemble contributes to the whole of the show with beautiful, chill-inducing harmony while also bringing their own distinct flair to each song, moving through the emotion and story with superfluous precision. I just loved every bit of it. See this show. See it twice even! You'll be thrilled you did. ... full review

I had never seen the show and was unsure of what to expect. I'm thrilled to say it was amazing! I hadn't realized the show was a collection of different stories. I expected one coherent plot and was pleasantly surprised with this alternate format. The performers were flawless. The performances were so powerful that it made it hard to remember we were in such an intimate space. The live music made everything that much more vibrant. For me, the standout was Sherry Mandujano. She brought a sense of fearlessness to the stage that captivated me. Bravo to the cast and crew! And thank you for introducing me to my new favorite show!... full review

As a native New Yorker, I often long for live theatre and true musical talent. Songs for a New World did just that. Every single actor was wonderful, from their strong stellar voices to their sincere and endearing expressions. I actually plan to see it again. If you go, I encourage you to laugh out loud, clap your hands, and just enjoy the hell out of these amazing performers. ... full review

I have loved the music of Jason Robert Brown for years but never have I seen his work brought to life so honestly and intimately as in A Cuppa Tea's production of Songs For a New World. The Fringe space they have at the Complex east theatre is stripped down due to the constraints of the festival but the actors, choreography and brilliant direction play up what could be a production setback and turn it entirely to their advantage. The bare stage allows for the raw and honest performance of each dynamic performer to truly shine through. Emily Morris, Keith Montanez, Scott Weston, and Sherry Manujano each bring a color uniquely their own to the production. Not to mention that each of their voices is as good if not better than the sh... full review
