For over a year I've waited to see Ben Moroski in action. I'd heard rave reviews of his previous solo show, so when I heard about THE WAKE, I knew I couldn't miss it. I expected Ben to be engaging - he was. I expected the show to surprise me - it did. What I didn't expect was to find myself slipping into the reality of a character that I never would have thought I could relate to. In the intimate space of the Elephant Studio, Ben's character tells the audience that's he found something "unconditional," and that he hopes we can find something like that in our lives. Something rare, something inexplicable, something real. After seeing THE WAKE, I felt that I had found exactly that. ... full review

Ben Moroski did a fantastic job in this one person show as Pete Harrisburg, who is still smarting from the breakup with his last girlfriend. He kept you riveted from start to finish with an emotional depth and intensity that was soul stirring, yet still managed to be hilariously funny. The play never ceased to surprise and astonish, with lighting cues that teased the character as they changed the small stage from an apartment to a rave to a bedroom without missing a beat. Ben has the gift of completely immersing you in his imaginary world. His is a shining talent, and I urge you to come see him in this intimate venue before you have to pay Broadway prices. ... full review

I don't think I can add anything to these reviews that hasn't already been said more eloquently by others. Don't miss this show. And don't ask anybody about it, either. I went in with almost no knowledge about it in advance, and I was blown away. ... full review

And the winner of the/my best show of the fringe goes to THE WAKE. I have seen over a dozen shows at this years fringe and I know there is another 230 to see but I'm fairly damn confident that nothing can top this. WOW, just WOW. Ben Moroski is one hell of a talent. The writing is so clean, clear, ambitious and clever. So damn clever. At times I wanted to scream BRAVO at the simplest of writing choices. What I found the most intriguing about this piece is how so many of the patrons found the play so comedic. I can only speak about myself and my partner of whom I watched the show with. Yes, it was funny. Yes, there were good jokes. But when it became clear the man I was watching was a psychopath, it was nothing but incredibly dark, unsettling... full review
