3eyed Monster Theatre Company, founded in Chicago, presents the world premier of Lazarus Lady by emerging playwright Megan O’Donoghue as part of the 2014 Hollywood Fringe Festival. A woman who has just completed her third suicide attempt is welcomed by her former “failures” on her journey towards a yearned-for death. Suddenly, she is resuscitated by an unwelcome doctor and is torn back into the mortal world. Based on Sylvia Plath’s poem “Lady Lazarus,” this movement based performance uses music, her text, and the human body to explore the journey of resurrection.
