My overall impression

Thumb wars is a piece that, although not relatable to my generation was a great insight into how ‘kids’ communicate and date each other nowadays. It’s a reality, and this play shows very accurately exactly how the younger generation communicate. Although the play is a comedy, I got a feeling that the scenario that takes place within the piece is exactly what goes down after first dates. A complete miscommunication over what a text ‘means’ and complete over thinking of texts!
“what does (…) mean compared to (..)?”
I loved the use of the screen and the back and forth dialogue between the four characters. Also the last speech by the guy, who finally realises that the whole texting thing is stupid and gets misconstrued and how he just wishes that they could ‘just talk!’
If only all young people would think like this. Actually…adults also.
A lovely show and something I would definitely recommend bringing your teenager or ‘friend you wish would take their head out of their phone’ to. Lovely job.
