UNTITLED: WE’RE DOING A PLAY You could easily say that Michael Willer’s “UNTITLED” is beyond the Fringe. On stage, at the intimate Hudson Theater on Santa Monica Blvd, this ensemble collaborates, as the story unfolds, to produce a play whilst struggling with each players own private agendas. Those in “the biz” will “get it” and those who aren’t will simply enjoy scene after scene of hilarious and definitely un PC humor. The physical comedy and antics of LA actor Schoen Hodges, juxtaposed the savvy “I wana be a star” Alli Miller, keeps you in stitches while straight gal Sarah Haworth nails the role as the snide on stage producer. J. Winford Warren rounds out the performance so to speak with Patrick Rutman as the tortured gay guy. I really e... full review

Freshness, creativity and novelty. What I liked in this play is that it doesn't pretend to be what it is not. It shows real characters and encourage the creation. I liked that through comedy they were able to bring up so many different subjects, on so many levels. The place of women in the show business industry, the sensibility of actors, their metaphysical questioning about themselves and their existence, the extravaganza and their oversized ego, their incapacity to differentiate their personal life and their professional life, etc. The actors are efficient and all have a strong personality. And to add to this, a couple of classical references here and there to remind you that this is new but "We" know what we're talking about! ... full review

UNTITLED: WE'RE DOING A PLAY is a farcical romp into producing theatre. And, from personal experience, I can relate, but I feel so many people in this crazy fringe world can sympathize and emphasize with this humorous story; reminding us that we are all a community of artists just trying to entertain audiences. Definitely check it out.... full review

What can be said about Untitled: We're Doing a Play that the title itself doesn't do ample service? Well actually a lot but don't let that keep you from attending this animated and humorous depiction of the errors and egos that are part of the creation, or rather inner destruction, of a play that happens to be the suitable embodiment of most stress filled creative projects. Untitled is reminiscent of Christopher Guest's classic "Waiting for Guffman" as it allows its cast of oddities and straight men (and women) to do what comedy is meant to do, which is taking the familiar and embellishing it for strident effect. There is an appropriate blend of sharp dialogue, pop-culture references, amplified personalities, and well-timed slapstick physica... full review

A charmingly silly and fun (if uneven) piece of theatre, created and performed by talented young people when they lost the rights to the play they'd intended to produce. Instead of giving up, they said, "Hey kids, let's put on a show!" If some of the humour is sophomoric, you'll still laugh (hey we were all sophomores once... these folks more recently than some of us.) It would be hard not to have a good time. (and they give you candy!)... full review

A funny, energetic, fast-paced old-school farce with a charming cast. If going to the theatre sometimes feels like having to eat your vegetables, this show is like the surprise trip to an ice cream parlor. ... full review
