The Complaints Dept.

This was overall fab use of performers and space. Complaints Department started on the street getting folks lining up to bond via the 100 Things, which distracted from slight delay and got us talking with each other. So smart and fun! And then we were brought into the venue and I was all WOW all this. ... full review

We Need Better Friends

Wonderful human acting, and the staging was fab. *This* is how Shakespeare should be taught and I Will Die On This Hill that this show needs to find a way to get into schools, where Shakes is taught All Wrong and Way Too Early for most. Put up this show *first* or at bare minimum in *parallel* and that will (possibly) make all the difference.... full review

Woody Fu: One-Man John Wick (2024)

This action-packed show is hysterical, clever and peppered with great insights about Keanu and John Wick. If you haven't seen any of the movies, you will want to after this.... full review

The Paranoia of Poe

Surprisingly moving and intense (at parts). Actors SLAYED. Staging was, if a bit dim with lights the whole show, it worked! Loved how the production used the 2-level aspect of the space to complete advantage. And OMG how this production Queered "The Raven" which is perfect timing for Pride!... full review

Wounded, by Jiggs Burgess

A *powerfully* performed work of hilarity and pathos. It stuck with me for quite a while after. This play is a very human, empathetic take on a profoundly difficult subject. I loved it.... full review

SHERLOCK HOLMES: THE LAST ACT

pam noles · June 23, 2023 certified reviewer
An excellent -- and surprisingly moving -- exploration of the *thoughts* and of Holmes during some of the "greatest hits" that Watson put out in the world, which he / Doyle never shared. We know Holmes' *actions* during those recorded events, and now we know the *feelings* of the man who claims to have none experienced.... full review

AFGHANISTAN IS NOT FUNNY

As deeply informative as it is darkly funny, in this crisp, sharp performance Henry manages to examine his own privilege while he slowly exposes the audience to increasing levels of empathy as his own experiences open up his Western eyes to the bigger picture.... full review

WEST

An outstanding roam through the life and relationship of an immigrant / Welsh couple forced to take the plunge into trying their luck with the myth of America. This play doesn't just speak to an 1800s Welsh (or other RDW immigrant experience). It speaks to all who loved and believed in the potentiality of the future. At times it feels like you're watching / listening to Poetry in Motion *because that's what they're doing* on that bare stage.... full review
