THE WORKING THEATRE PRESENTS THE WORLD PREMIERE OF THE LIGHTS ARE OFF

“I don’t really think that was your intention. You’re always so full of zeal, and I like that. Makes you alive, passionate, and a lot of fun to fuck around with. But—and this is a tough one—I have worked too hard to get where I am, to have you take it all away…I want to let you go Randy, but I need to know that it’s gonna be okay. It has to be okay. Tell me it’s gonna be okay.”

The Working Theatre announces their Premiere Production of The Lights Are Off, to be presented at the 2012 Hollywood Fringe Festival. The play is produced by Matt Soson (Pacific Resident Theatre, The Waitlist Comedy) and Priscilla Watson (L.A. Theatre Ensemble, HOOLIGAN Theatre Company, Son of Semele). The two met studying at the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television and immediately discovered a shared aesthetic in art and a passion for producing brave new work that equally entertains and provokes. Though they’ve worked together on many projects in the past, this is their greatest endeavor to date, and both are incredibly excited and proud to be a part of this wonderful festival.

The play stars Mikey Hawley (The Cradle Will Rock at The Blank) as Burnt, a young man with a problem. His roommate Randy, played by Elijah Trichon (Peter Pan U.S. Tour, NCIS), an uptight Born-Again, has just found his stash and is calling the cops. What’s a just-trying-to-make-tuition drug dealer to do? When Randy’s little sister Gwen (Rachel Lien, Peter Pan, 90210) arrives, Burnt is forced to either bury the truth or bury himself in this bittersweet rush of almost-romance. The rest of the young, stellar cast includes Taylor Solomon, Megan Pfefferkorn, Ian Evarts and Cord Jackman.
