A ONE WOMAN SHOW ABOUT A NIGERIAN WOMAN WHO GOES ON A JOURNEY TO LOSE HER VIRGINITY PREMIERES AT THE HOLLYWOOD FRINGE

Selected has an Honorable Mention for Hollywood Fringe 2019 “Girl From Schenectady” is a One Woman Show Written, Produced and Performed by Odunayo Majekodunmi (a.k.a Ayo Majek) This is Ayo’s first One Woman show as well as her first Fringe Performance. The show is based on a true story of Ayo’s dating journey and the impact of parental divorce in searching for True Love and Self Acceptance. The show also illustrates Ayo’s Nigerian heritage, culture, values, as well as how it shaped her views on marriage and relationships with men over all.
“Girl From Schenectady” was also inspired by conversations and interviews with Single Christian Women who experienced similar situations and conflicts with finding True Love, especially women that are celibate and waiting until marriage to have sex.

Actress and AMDA Alumni Ayo Majek was born in Nigeria and grew up in Schenectady New York. She lived in NY most of her life and describes her dating experiences with men of different racial backgrounds in the show. The objective of the show is to bring awareness to men and women of different cultures about self love, self acceptance and finding true love. Most importantly, women who have experienced any kind of abuse, pain or loss in their marriage or relationships with men. “Girl From Schenectady” Opened on June 9th, at the Hollywood Fringe and has been extended for additional Performances at the Broadwater Studio on 1078 Lillian way, Los Angeles CA 90038. The performance dates are July 14th @ 8pm, July 18th @8pm and July 21st @ 8pm. Tickets are $14.50. A portion of the proceeds are being donated to Mental Health America of Los Angeles.

The show is Directed by Danielle Mone’ Truitt who is an Award Nominated Actress, Director, Dancer and Singer. She also Produced her own One Woman Show “3:Black Girl Blues” which is currently playing at the Matrix Theater in Los Angeles.
