The Scorpion and the Frog: A time-killer
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The 6th Act Presents
THE SCORPION AND THE FROG: a time-killer
by Spencer Green
The 6th Act Theatre Company presents The Scorpion and the Frog: a time-killer, a comic interpretation of the oft-told fable, directed by Co-Artistic Director Matthew Leavitt.
The World Premiere play will be part of this year’s Hollywood Fringe Festival and asks: Will the frog and the scorpion make it to the other side of the river? Will they learn anything? Will they grow as intelligent species? Will these questions entice you to actually leave your homes and see this?
Playwright Spencer Green is a Fringe veteran, having penned the lyrics for the hit musical “Bumpersticker: The Musical” as well as “Bukowsical!” which premiered at the New York Fringe Festival. He has written for television on shows such as MadTv and The Fairly Oddparents.
Director Matthew Leavitt most recently helmed The 6th Act’s critically acclaimed five person Hamlet, earning accolades such as “Ingenious…Matthew Leavitt directs and to him I will be eternally grateful for this beautiful piece of theatre.”
The four person cast consists of Christine Sage (Ovation Award Winner for last year’s The Tempest), Alex Parker, Thomas Bigley (both ten years as ensemble and board members of The Porters of Hellsgate), and Penny Peyser (countless film/tv/theatre including the original production of The Hot L Baltimore).
The Scorpion and the Frog: a time-killer will be the final production in The 6th Act’s inaugural season, which included An Evening of Betrayal and Hamlet.
