THE LONDON ROSE, A NEW COMING-OF-AGE TRANSGENDER MUSICAL, TO PREMIERE AT HOLLYWOOD FRINGE 2019
The London Rose
PRESS RELEASE
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 17th, 2019)
THE LONDON ROSE
Book, Music, and Lyrics by Mia E. Cotton
Produced by CottonBlend Productions
CottonBlend Productions is proud to announce the premiere of “The London Rose”, a Coming-of-Age Transgender Musical.
It is May of 1895. Edward Kingsley (Oliver Rotunno) has returned to London after escaping his former life as “Emily”, only to find his home abandoned and his family dead. With the help of the quick-thinking Lee (Leo Ayala), Edward begins anew and rebuilds his life. He even finds love in the sardonic, well-read Rosanna Winchester (Ember Everett). However, Oscar Wilde’s sentence for homosexuality and the bitter, closeted John Collins (James Thomas Miller) threaten Edward’s life and the people he loves. “The London Rose” follows ordinary people combating society and the roles they’re supposed to play.
This show contains depictions of period-appropriate homophobia and transphobia, sexual assault, and suicide. Not recommended for those under the age of 14.
Performances will be at the Let Live Theatre at The Actors Company (916 N. Formosa Ave). Runtime is 1 hour and 30 minutes with a 10-minute intermission. Tickets are $15 General Admission, $7.50 with the discount code ROSE.

ABOUT THE WRITER
Mia E. Cotton was born in San Jose, California with an imagination almost as big as her hair. She fell in love with theater and music at an early age. She’s done everything from dancing, to playing piano, to singing, to acting. In 2017, she graduated from AMDA College and Conservatory with a BFA in Musical Theatre. The London Rose was a byproduct of passion for musicals, a love of history, and the want to see more diverse stories produced for the stage. Mia would like to thank her family and friends for supporting her, and the fantastic company of The London Rose for giving this show the light it needed to blossom.
