Born in Puerto Rico to an ultra-religious mother and a domineering father is not easy, especially when it’s likely you are a big queen. There are not enough novenas to pray, or candles to be lit. In this situation only a miracle will do, or better yet … a holy intervention. Thank God for Madonna. This hilarious and moving solo show will inspire, empower, and entertain those who are questioning … as well as those who have zero doubt. Running time is 60 minutes.

Javier Rivera has acted in productions of Dancing at Lughnasa, Wildboy–The Musical, Kissing Fidel, and The Merry Wives of Windsor, to name a few. His most recent directing assignments have included The House of Bernarda Alba, The Who’s Tommy, and Glengarry Glen Ross. Other directing credits include The Taming of the Shrew for Lean & Hungry Theatre and the world premiere of I Am the Gentry at the Intersections Festival in Washington, DC. Rivera received the Princess Grace Faberge Award for Acting in 2003 and was inducted into American University’s Hall of Fame in 2004. He recently moved to LA from Chicago and is a theatre teacher/director at the Oakwood Secondary School in North Hollywood.

Ren Bell is a Los Angeles-based director and a proud member of the CalArts Mafia. Since arriving in LA 15 years ago, he has developed and run diverse theatre programs across the city, most notably at Oakwood School, where he has served as the Chair of Performing Arts/Director of Theatre Arts since 2012. Ren currently works as an acting coach for various network/Netflix productions in addition to teaching privately.

The Hollywood Fringe Festival is an annual, open-access, community-derived event celebrating freedom of expression and collaboration in the performing arts community. Each June during the Hollywood Fringe, the arts infiltrate the Hollywood neighborhood: fully equipped theaters, parks, clubs, churches, restaurants and other unexpected places host hundreds of productions by local, national, and international arts companies and independent performers.
