A discovery of nine virgin dresses sends performer and songwriter Brenda Varda down the rabbit hole into the world of not-so-high fashion. In search of what might be her own true style, Varda goes from cramped cold of dressing rooms through the nine circles off fashion hell and back again. NINE DRESSES sends fashion compulsion into question, lampooning both dress obsession and the domination of fast fashion. Songs include “Shopping Therapy” and “What Were You Thinking?!” and a LOT of dress changes.
With wicked lyrics, smashing piano fun, and the slick accompaniment of Mr. Bass (Nick Morabito), Varda re-makes dressing and makes room for individual expression.
